enricosavazzi
I tested on my site a few already known-usable lenses (Enna Lithagon 35 mm f/3.5, 28 mm f/3.5, 24 mm f/4, Porst 35 mm f/3.5, 28 mm f/3.5) and two apparently not in the UVP lists (Pentax Super Takumar 28 mm f/3.5 variant 1 and 3). http://savazzi.net/p...naLithagon.htmlhttp://savazzi.net/p...umar28f3.5.html (also contains some information on mounting filters within mirrorless adapters)http://savazzi.net/p...cyLensesUV.html (contains general comments on how to select candidate lenses for testing, nothing particularly new but I find it good to have it summarized as a pre-packaged resource when answering questions I frequently get by e-mail) And if you are into legacy super-telephoto lenses (albeit no UV):http://savazzi.net/p...phy/oly600.html In other news, I am going to move again this autumn (this time to the island of Öland in the Baltic Sea), so don't expect to hear much new from me for a few months. Timber
I just dusted off my Nikon 24mm f2.8 and was a very pleasant surprise. UV capabilities are close to the Meritar (which is so far my best lens for UV as I don't have filter for the EL-Nikkor 80 and 105) Link to comment
enricosavazzi
By the way, if you don't mind epoxying a filter adapter within the front filter mount of the El-Nikkor 80 and 105 (metal barrel), there is a simple solution. I standardized for years on 52 mm front-mounted filters (and 30.5 mm rear-mounted filters), and have a 34 to 52 mm step-up filter adapter epoxied on some of my El-Nikkors, since adapters for the native 34.5 mm filter mount are difficult to find. I also re-mounted almost all of my 2" astronomy filters into the metal frames of 52 mm filters (B+W Pro filter frames are the best for this because of the large flanges that allow mounting even 48 mm filter blanks). The CoastalOpt 60 mm and many Nikkor lenses take 52 mm filters and lens shades. Link to comment

Andy Perrin
I have one, I’ve been very happy with it. Well-made thing. Link to comment
Cadmium
...and look at all the step-up sizes they have now! They have one for 48mm which might be handy for Baader U, and 49mm, which might be handy for those who have a lot of 49mm filters, etc., quite a selection of new step-up sizes. Link to comment

dabateman
The Rafcamera adapters and step rings are expensive but very well made. I have the 34.5mm to 52mm stepup as well. I paid more for it than my Nikkor 80mm, but it is a very nice ring. The 52mm to 25mm rings are also excellent if you go down the 25mm filter path. Link to comment
Andrea B.
Enrico, congratulations on your move to Öland Island.I had to look it up in Wiki not having ever heard of it before. What an interesting place. And there is a stone ring. I LOVE those. (My trip to the Calanish stone ring on Lewis and Harris Island was one of the best travels in my life.) Thank you for the lens comments. I will try to add links to the Lens Sticky. Link to comment

Thank you for the lens comments. I will try to add links to the Lens Sticky.I believe there are multiple iron-age stone rings, mounds and building foundations in Öland. There are plenty of finds also on the island of Gotland, which is not far away. There are also fossils (only Paleozoic as far as I know) in most of Öland, as well as plenty of nature preserves. This will be the first time since I moved to Sweden in 1982 that I will be living in a place with fossils (in spite of working as a professional researcher in paleontology until 2004). Öland is also a favorite vacation spot, with the population of many coastal villages doubling in the summer thanks to tourists. Link to comment

Andrea B.
It's really fun to travel around the world and meet other photographers. And seeing stone rings and other old artifacts is fascinating. In Norway Birna took me to see rock carvings and old mounds and building foundations from before Vikings even. At a Nikongear meetup in Scotland we went to photograph the big Callanish Stone Circle. A meetup someday on Öland Island would be wonderful. Mark Jones
Thanks for testing! I was looking for a wide angle lens looks like the 28mm is it! SummaryThe Lithagon 35 mm f/3.5 and its clones are usable in UV photography and produce a moderately good UV false color, but Kyoei-made 35 mm f/3.5 lenses are better. The Lithagon 28 mm f/3.5 is the best legacy 28 mm lens I tested so far in UV imaging. The Lithagon 24 mm f/4 is not as good as the 28 mm, but is nonetheless one of very few 24 mm lenses usable in UV imaging. Link to comment
dabateman
Mark,My Tamron adaptall 24mm f2.5, also works very well in UV. I have a small image in my T370 thread. I bought it brand new and have been the only owner, So I know it has not been modified. If you see one could be another option. Link to comment
Mark Jones
cool, the Tamron adaptall 24mm f2.5 is only $40 on ebay Link to comment
enricosavazzi
cool, the Tamron adaptall 24mm f2.5 is only $40 on ebayDon't forget the AI-S Nikkor 24 mm f/2.8. There is a more recent thread about it, but I cannot find it right now. The AI-S Nikkor 24 mm runs circles around the Enna 24 mm. I did not test the Tamron 24 mm, so I cannot say anything about it. EDIT: There are actually two threads on the AI-S Nikkor 24 mm f/2.8, with sample images:https://www.ultravioletphotography.com/content/index.php/topic/3346-greenwich-area-london-uk/https://www.ultravioletphotography.com/content/index.php/topic/3375-finspang-castle-ai-s-nikkor-24-mm-f28/ Link to comment
