The ai-s version. With coloured f stop numbers. Made from 1977. When I got my step up ring for my EL Nikkor 105 I will make a comparison review with photos. But so far I'm quite pleased with it. Quite good at F4 and UV transmission seems to be quite good

Hello, Timber!!!!! Long time no see. I'm glad you are back with us making some cool posts.

I particularly like that 5th photo. It would be a good photo in any light. The play of light on the steps, the wild shirt pattern contrasted with the formality of the architecture, the way the figure stands out against the background. Sweet!

Did you have any problems fitting filters to the enlarger lens you were using? Some of my enlarger lenses do no have any front filter capability. Of course, there is always hand-holding or fitting the filter to the back. I never seem to have the right fittings to make rear-mounted filter solutions.

Hello, Timber!!!!! Long time no see. I'm glad you are back with us making some cool posts.

Well there were many reasons why I was away for a while :) Main issue was I did not had any time for UV photos (barely found any time for visible photography) and the other one was my BG40 had some serious oxidation issue. I took it out and left it on my desk to remind myself to find a solution and one day my wife was tidying up the room, she saw the filter being "dirty", first she tried to clean it and when it didn't work she thought I left it out as it is rubbish and threw it in the bin... on bin collection day, so I had no chance to save it :) So there I was filterless... :) But now back with S8612 for my U360, and the NEX-6 sold and replaced with my A7II converted to Full Spectrum. Now I only need is time...

That's definitely my favourite as well. I think the gloomy imagery of UV makes it better :) We had people constantly going in and out at that gate so he was standing like this for a minute or two while we were waiting for the right opportunity :)

On these ones I used a step up ring and glued it to the front opening of the lens. It does the job :) But for IR on my 14mm Samyang I use rear fitted filters inside a ULATA Canon EF - Sony FE helicoid adapter (this is the only brand that is usable on Full Frame without vignetting), where I glued a magnetic ring. To hold the filter I used a step down ring from 46mm to 43mm, had to sand off a bit on sides to be able to fit it properly, and at the bottom I glued a magnetic ring as well. The magnets hold the filter steady and it's not that hard to take it out once you have the right method :) It can take up to two filters of 43mm wide. Once Steve cuts new filters I am thinking to get a 43mm MoonU (unless he's still angry at me for our little argument in the other topic -ps.: sorry about that :P-)

You were not arguing because we don't allow that here. You were having a Gentlemen's Disagreement.

What kind of glue do you use for attaching a filter to the front of an enlarger lens? An epoxy?

MoonU is a fun filter. Has a bit of blue. I also like the StraightEdgeU for a blue/violet look with no actual blue pass.

I simply get a step up ring with the smaller thread just being about the right size and then use superglue :) I know, I know... I am a barbarian! :)

If the threads are close enough you can put some thin softer material like tape or plastic on top of the male thread and carefully force a working connection.

I did so for my EL-Nikkor 105, with a cheap step ring while waiting for a proper Raft-camera ring that was suck at customs.

This method is reversible and possibly better than gluing, but possibly not as strong. Superglue often is not that strong.

IF there's a thread. With the Dixon Aristocrats there is none :)
