Andy Perrin
I just modified a Canon 199A for UV following Boon's directions and I was wondering if there is a good replacement for the fresnel lens that was removed? It seems kind of dangerous to have the bare bulb exposed, and also probably bad for the bulb. What are people doing in this regard? Link to comment
Cadmium
Andy, you 'could' use some of this UVT or SUVT plastic which transmits UV.I don't use anything if I am shooting using a UV-only filter. No need.If I am shooting UVIVF then I use a U-340 2mm + S8612 2mm stack. https://www.polymerplastics.com/transparents_uvta.shtml Link to comment
Andy Perrin
Okay, I'll chance it if you haven't had any problems. Link to comment
Cadmium
Andy, I did some tests comparing the UVT plastic toward the bottom of this topic below, but I just don't use it, I just leave the front open.https://www.ultravioletphotography.com/content/index.php/topic/2006-first-flash/page__p__14255__hl__uvt__fromsearch__1#entry14255 Link to comment
dabateman
Andy,I cut a piece of Zwb2, rather badly I may add, and glued it into the sliding filter attachments. But also use a piece of clear 1mm thick cut PMMA in the actual flash for safety, at times.Currently mine are bare bulb, as I seem to use continuous lights more than these flashes.
