Pollinators: Long-tongued bees.

Comment: This specimen was transported from a greenhouse to the studio for photography. The flowers were completely wilted within several hours after capturing the following photos.

These images are so strikingly pretty one tends to forgive E. crassipes of being such a troublesome aquatic plant ! Excellent documentation of its hidden features.

Thats the best UV induced visible fluorescence I have seen. Outstanding work and images Mark. The uv induced IR also looks better than the cyan.
Very interesting.

@Andy: I didn't actually employ any backlighting in this set. Or perhaps you're referring to the translucence of the petals where some of the fluorescence is shining through from within? (which I happen to like very much)

@dabateman: Qualitatively I'm not sure if I have an aesthetic preference for either the UVIIF or CyIIF (each has it's pro's/con's IMO) - but what I do find very interesting is how the longer cyan wavelength lights up that spot in the middle of the central petal, while the same spot does nothing (re: fluorescence) under UV!
