Nico
Chalwatzis, N. 2013. More on Cymbalaria muralis (Scrophulariaceae) Ivy-leaved Toadflax. Flowers photographed in visible and ultraviolet light, including simulated bee colours. http://www.ultraviol...ample/#entry482 Cymbalaria muralis Syn. Linaria cymbalariaDE: Zimbelkraut, ZymbelkrautEN: Ivy-leaved toadflax, Kenilworth Ivy Flowers were photographed in Bensheim, Germany, 7 May 2013. All images were taken with a broadband-modified Panasonic Lumix G1 and the EL-Nikkor 80mm/f5.6 at f8. Visible light image with IR-neutralisation-filter ND (Optic Makario), ISO 100, 1/60s.image reference: NCH_P1080419130507 UV-image, Baader U-filter 2”, ISO 400, 8s, sunlightimage reference: NCH_P1080418130507 “simulated bee-colours”: composite image of the UV image (-> blue) (greescale conversion) and the blue (-> green) and green (-> red) channel of the visible light image. The goal of this is to mimic the spectrum that bees and other insect-pollinators can see.image reference: NCH_P1080418_RGB_UV_bw130526 These tiny flowers are completely UV-dark in the centre and show a relatively weak UV-reflexion at the peripheral part of the petals. The pattern in the simulated bee-colour is more caused by the visible spectrum (blue channel). The low UV-reflexion causes the shift from white to yellow. [published:26 May 2013] Link to comment
