nfoto
Rørslett, B. 2012. Viola biflora L. (Violaceae). Twoflower Violet. Flowers photographed in visible and ultraviolet light. http://www.ultraviol...oflower-violet/ Viola biflora L.NO: FjellfiolSE: FjällviolDK: Fjeld-ViolFI: Lapinorvokki DE: Zweiblütiges VeilchenEN: Twoflower Violet This is a small mainly alpine species found in Europe, Siberia, Central Asia, Pakistan, western and northern China, North Korea, Japan, and Western North America. Specimen collected in the Sognefjell mountain range (elevation 1000 m.as.l.), Western Norway, 9 July 2012 Visible light: Nikon D300, Medical-Nikkor 120 mm f/4 lens, built-in ring flash. Ultraviolet light: Panasonic GH-2, Coastal Optics 60 mm f/4 lens, Baader U 2" (Venus) filter, SB-140. In UV, V. biflora differs strongly from most violets studied so far by the author; these species tend to be quite UV dark all over the corolla. The corolla of V. biflora, however, strongly reflects UV, and there is a very large prominent UV-dark central mark. Foliage, stems, buds, and bracts, all are UV-dark as well.
