This is a small spring flower native to Asia Minor and Caucasus. It is quite popular as an ornamental garden plant and is occasionally naturalised from garden escapes. Flowering occurs in April or May.

The UV signature of P. scilloides is a combination of medium-low UV reflectivity of the corolla, basal patches with conical cells, and UV-bright nectaria.
