Outdoor UVIVF

Late summer I had to try some UVIVF in the plants natural outdoor environment. It is somewhat problematic: First I had to wait for the dark season to appear as most of the summer has 24h daylight in Fairbanks. And then there is of course the potential wind affecting exposures of several seconds and in some cases up to 1/2 a minute. So bear over with me if resolution is not tip top in all of these. Except for the last one I have no knowledge of the names of these cultivated plants. In most cases a vis. image comes first then UVIVF next. Where not anything else is noticed they were captured with Nikon 105mm f/4 @ f/8 on my D7100 at ISO.100, exposure times 10-20 sec.. A small LED headlamp was used to light the vis. images. For UVIVF images a Tank007 TK-566 with a ZWB1 2mm thick filter on the front and an L39 filter on the lens were used. For simplicity the WB was left on Auto, but in my experience it defaults close to daylight WB under UVIVF imaging.

Of course I had to try the sunflowers although they are very sensitive to the wind with their long stalks. Here in attempt to capture them under the stars with my Nikon 12-24mm f/4 lens @ 24mm and f/8, 30 sec exposures at ISO 1600. Big Dipper is hiding behind the first set:

Big Dipper is more visible here although with some artifacts due to too close focus:

Thanks Andy, we had a pretty warm September, so another year in late September when these were captured, snow could have been only days ahead.

Wonderful! I love the Sunflower against the Stars - such an appealing contrast.

The flowers in #1 and #2 are genus Bidens. That's a Rudbeckia in #3.

I'm not sure about #4, not open enough. And also not sure about #5 - looks like a Verbena but might be a Phlox?

Thanks Andrea for the enthusiastic comment and taxonomic pointers. I agree that Phlox is most likely for the last one based on how it was growing and a quick google. I might check with the owners of the house (I was house-sitting) and see if they know what they cultivated.
