Christmas Satsumas!

Adrian

Recommended Posts

I reached out for a Satsuma on Christmas Day, and found a decidedly squidgy one in the fruit bowl! Time to investigate with the UV torch (Convoy S2)!

On a serious note, does anyone know anything about the moulds that infect citrus fruits? I have been photographing them all year, and sometimes get multi-coloured bands, and others like this one, just have one colour. Presumably the different colours relate to different species of mould?

Happy new year to everyone!

Aha! A good way to find the Bad Apple amongst the Satsumas. B)

Quite a dramatic difference there.

Did the bad one actually grow mold afterwards? Softness and decay in fruit can be due to mold, yeast, or bacteria. If you're lucky it'll be yeast and the fruit will have a nice zing to it. :-)
