Comment:

The strikingly colored Fireweed stands out dramatically against the green hedge as its blooms explode from the bottom to the top of the raceme. The plant was used medicinally by Native Americans. Its leaves have been used for tea in many parts of the world. The flower and sepal display is complex and attracts several pollinators. (In the photographs, one of the four narrow sepals is inside the container to help keep the flower positioned.)

Rørslett(2) first posted C. angustifolium here on UVP. We welcome multiple examples of the same flowers in order to confirm their UV-signatures.

This is a stack of four frames made for improved depth of field and detail. While shooting, a long exposure time was used to permit multiple flashes.
