Wildflower

Synonyms:

  • Addersmeat
  • Tùrsach (Gaelic: Dejected)

Comment: This is a big Stellaria flower, almost 25 mm in diameter on a plant up to 60 cm in height. The early blooming, European native is found along hedgerows and edges of woodlands and on slopes to avoid wetter areas. In UV, the petals are mostly UV absorbing, becoming darker near the center and with some slightly lighter mid-petal blotches on what would be considered the lower petals.
