toe.freeman
Hello everyoneMaybe I am the first Chinese in this community ,as a result I am not so good at English. Anyway , I appreciate everyone's contribution to the UV photography and I have learnt a lot from it. I have played IR for 3 years and now I am studying fluorescence photography at night dive and start to play UV now. The Baader U is very expensive and hard to get from China and I found Optolong Venus-U Filter's spectrum is similar ,have any one try this ? Here are some photo underwater, hope you will enjoy it :D :D Link to comment
colinbm
Welcome Toe.These look great Toe.I guess these are UVIVF (ultra violet induced visible fluorescence) ?What light source are you using please. The specs for the Optolong Venus-U Filter look good, but may need a Schott S8612 filter in addition to block the small IR leak ?Col Link to comment
Andrea B.
Hello Toe and welcome to UVP. I hope you enjoy the website. We have members from many different countries and so many members are using English as a "second" language. Thus you are not alone and will find everyone to be helpful with English. :) I am not familiar with this Optolong filter myself. If you can make a photo of some flower with a well-known UV-absorbing bullseye and post, then we can see how well this Optolong Venus-U works for UV. If the dark bullseye is washed out, then you might need to stack an additional IR-blocking filter with the Optolong filter. See these flowers for an example:Cucumis sativus: http://www.ultravioletphotography.com/content/index.php/topic/1432-cucumis-sativus-cucumber/Rudbeckia hirta: http://www.ultravioletphotography.com/content/index.php/topic/530-rudbeckia-hirta-denver-daisy-gloriosa-daisy/Taraxacum officinale: http://www.ultravioletphotography.com/content/index.php/topic/463-taraxacum-officinale-dandelion/ Link to comment

The light source is 365nm,but some article said that blue light will be better. It seems that Optolong Venus-u is a copy as the Baader U, also the salesman said they are in the same level. If the s8612 is needed,I will not choose that for the IR lock filter is hard to find in my country too.
