Osteospermum hyoseroides (DC.)T.Norl.

Syn. Tripteris hyoseroides DC.; Monoculus hyoseroides (DC.)B.Nord.

Some free-standing individuals were found at a rock outcrop in the Kamiesberg area, near Kamieskroon, Northern Cape Province, 6 Sept. 2015, at an altitude of 1100 m asl.

Both UV images obtained with Nikon D3200, UV-Nikkor 105 mm f/4.5 lens, Baader U2" ('Venus') filter (built-in), SB-140 flash.

In UV, the ligules change the rear UV appearance from UV blue to pale UV false yellow when they develop. Also unexpected is the bright UV false yellow rendition of the disc flowers. The disc corollas usually present themselves very dark in UV, at least this is the pattern frequently seen with many European and American members of the Asteraceae.

This flower has a very fetching UV-bright disk against the dark bullseye.
