Andrea B.
Blum, A.G. (2015) Lapsana communis L. (Asteraceae) Common Nipplewort. Flowers photographed in ultraviolet and visible light. http://www.ultraviol...mon-nipplewort/ Updated 28 March 2017: Added photo of entire plant. Comment: At first glance L. communis appears to be another Hieracium, but its distinctive involucre with long, narrow, slightly keeled phyllaries easily distinguishes it from other yellow Asteraceae. Several reasons are suggested for its common name. Among them is the whitish milky sap the plant produces. Its UV signature is of the bullseye type. Reference: 1.
