Paper: Dragonfly visual opsin gene diversity

Recommended Posts

Here, from a reference in New Scientist is a paper about "Extraordinary diversity of visual opsin genes in dragonflies"

The authors found between 15 and 33 opsin genes in dragonflies, which means they could have that number of opsin proteins in their eyes to give them sensitivities to as many different wavelengths.

The paper shows a graph of spectral sensitivity which peaks around 340 nm
