Different subspecies have been described. It is a typical pioneer invader on fresh or sandy ground such as forest cuttings, road verges, railway embankments, and other disturbed habitats, man-made or natural. Flowering is typically in mid to late summer and the tall inflorescences with showy pale purple flowers are very eagerly visited by a variety of pollinators, large or small. Akira
Hi, Bjørn, lurking around this forest of UV flowers here, I've found that you shot this flower with Nikon D3 both for VIS and UV. Have you modified it? Link to comment
nfoto
Yes, for a while I had one modified as a broad-spectrum camera. However, I experienced a severe issue with IR contamination caused by its shutter monitor LED. In order to minimise the issue I had to shoot at maximum sync speed, i.e. 1/250 sec, and use studio flashes. Not a viable option over time for a field camera so I reset the camera to its factory condition and sold it off. Link to comment
Akira
I see. So, D600 might be your next choice for FX UV camera. Link to comment
