Publishing Guidelines: Multiple Formal Posts of the Same Subject

This is supplementary material for: Publishing Guidelines: Formal Botanical Presentations

**********

We are very eager to collect and present multiple examples of the UV signature of the same floral specimen. But we have two requests for posting such examples.

If you have photographed the same botanical item in different places or at different times, then please combine the photo sets into one formal presentation thread rather than starting a new thread for each set of photos.

Example: Mertensia brevistyla [shortstyle Bluebells]

I photographed these Bluebells in two different locations in Colorado a few days apart and posted them in a single formal presentation. The photographs from the 1st location were labeled as "SET 1" and were followed by the photographs from the 2nd location under the label "SET 2". Location details and dates were specified in each SET. We do not have rigid formatting requirements for labeling your sets except to request that you use some common sense. "-)

If you are posting your photographs of a botanical item which has already been formally presented by someone else, then your post's Title, Comment, Reference String and References must be modified slightly to reflect that the specimen has already been published here. This is standard scientific practice.

Title Example

Andrea posted her photos of Chocolate Flower first in this post:

When Bjørn posted his photos of Chocolate Flower, he added the required phrase "Another Example" to the end of his post title to indicate that his was not the first presentation of this flower:

Reference String Example

Bjørn's introductory Reference String at the beginning of his formal presentation of Chocolate Flower has phrasing which indicates that this is another example of a previously presented flower. We have no rigid requirement on the phrasing you use here. Such phrases as "More on...", "Another Example of...", "Additional Material for....." are all acceptable.

References Example

In his commentary, Bjørn referenced the first Chocolate Flower presentation with a link:

Berlandiera lyrata
had a strong central pattern ("bull's eye" type) in UV light. Here are a few additional photographic observations of the same species.....

He also listed Andrea's Chocolate Flower presentation in his post's References list:
