Comment:

Loves the rocks. Native to southeastern Europe. In Deep Cut Park these A. deltoidea plants have been growing happily for at least 25 years on and around a low rock wall and have become well naturalized, slowly spreading.

The edges of the petal in ultraviolet light are somewhat lighter than the central portion because of apparent iridescence. The visible veins radiating from the center carry over to become UV-black venation. The stigma and 4 stamens are UV-dark with some reflectivity where pollen is present. In UV the flowers do stand out somewhat against the mass of lighter foliage. A bee would probably see these flowers as a blue or bluish-cyan against "grey" foliage.

In UV the false-blue Aubrieta stand out against their foliage and the lichen covered rock wall.
