Comment:

The largest of the North American Hop Clovers, T. aureum's trifoliate leaf has a sessile (or very short-stalked) central leaflet and a cluster of florets which can reach 17-20mm in length. Each floret is slightly larger on average than the very similar florets of T. campestre which form a slightly smaller cluster of 12-15mm in length.
