Euphrasia stricta Wolff ex Lehm.

NO: Kjerteløyentrøst; kjertelaugetrøyst

SE: Ögontröst

A hemiparasite native to Europe and commonly found on road verges and meadows. The taxonomy of this genus is difficult not the least because the taxa include seasonal races.

Plants collected and photographed in Lyngen, Troms Norway 26 Jul 2013. They were identified on floral and vegetative criteria such as the presence of stalked glandular hairs on the bracts.

Ultraviolet light: Panasonic GH-2, Coastal APO 60 mm f/4 APO lens, Baader U2" (Venus) filter, SB-140 flash.

The E. stricta flowers have UV-dark patches and a corolla with conical cells giving the flower a shimmering quality. The perianth edges, stems, and teeth of the bracts are UV bright.
