MunzStephanomeria var. paucifloraOther Common Names:Desert StrawDesert Wire-lettuceFew-flowered Wire-lettuce Comment: Poor (pauci) in flowers (flora) aptly describes this shrub with its intricate, branched thicket of blue-green wiry stems. Look closely because the 5 pale pink/lavender notched ligules of each tubular flower seem to form what appears to be the corolla of a single flower. In ultraviolet the ligules are of a moderate UV-tonality with UV-dark filaments topped by brighter curly anthers. The seed is topped with plumey bristles. Reference:1. Morhardt, S. & E.
