Good to see UV imaging in the news - it offers a lot to both the research and art worlds. However I really hope they were wearing contact lenses with good UV blockers for those head shots....

Pierre-Louis Ferrar is one of our members! Look for the handle Don Pilou.

Here is one of his portrait series. Be sure to scroll down to Post #4. So cool!!!

Congratulations to Don Pilou on getting some recognition in a national US news organization!

I don't read Fox, so thanks David for providing this link.

Hi there,

Thanks a lot for sharing the link here. I did not expect such spread of my work, although they miss the topic of my series. I do not want to present anxious portraits but RAW portraits (explaining the title of my series ;) ) but as for other media a more spectacular point of view was chosen.

And concerning the open eyes: I used unfiltered flashes emitting a lot of visible light and a few UV light (far less than with a Broncolore tube). And I shot 1, max 2 times by portrait, so I think the eyes of the models are safe ;)

Well great work.

I am starting to see more UV photography in general media. Looks like this niche may pickup. Hopefully the cost of filters will drop again. I would rather pay $200 for the BaaderU, as I did the first time rather than the current $400 tag. Hopefully my cracked one will hold out for a couple more years.

very cool portraits. https://www.ebay.com...E8AAOSwmpBdHH97

they are $300 on ebay, quite expensive!

The filter you linked to is not anUV-pass filter.

H-alpha is a specific deep-red visible spectral line in the Balmer series with a wavelength of 656.28 nm in air; it occurs when a hydrogen electron falls from its third to second lowest energy level. Wikipedia

Baader Planetarium is a series of filters. The one we use most often in that series is the Baader U:
