Gibbon fur

Recommended Posts

I never understood why Gibbons would have light and dark fur in IR.

These two do have white and black fun in visual, but I would not expect that in IR?

You be the judge...

Some times IR turns out unexpected results. For example, the phyllaries ('bracts') on dandelions Taraxacum spp. are black whilst everything else is white in IR. Gibbon fur has to be added to the exceptions list, apparently.

Melanin does absorb some IR, especially shorter wavelengths--this looks as though taken with a 720-ish filter. I don't know whether other pigments are in play here.
