This is a small creeping spring flower widely distributed in Europe and Asia. It flowers in early May. The entire plant is fragrant and it has been used in medicine and for making herbal tea.

Ultraviolet light: Nikon D600 broad-spectrum, JML 50 m mf/3.5 lens, Baader U2" (Venus) filter, Broncolor studio flashes (uncoated Xenon tube), 42 frames stacked in Zerene Stacker.

 

The corolla of G. hederacea is densely covered with large conical cells giving it a shimmering appearance in UV. There are large dark blotches on the lower lip that extends beyond the visible markings as well.
