Ultraviolet light: Panasonic GH-2, Coastal Optics 60 mm f/4 lens, Baader U 2" (Venus) filter, SB-140.

In UV, V. biflora differs strongly from most violets studied so far by the author; these species tend to be quite UV dark all over the corolla. The corolla of V. biflora, however, strongly reflects UV, and there is a very large prominent UV-dark central mark. Foliage, stems, buds, and bracts, all are UV-dark as well.
