Jim Lloyd
Getting to know the different lenses I have accumulated ... Today looking for a good candidate in the field that will be somewhere between a wide landscape view and a close up view. I have Nikon E series 50 mm f/1.8 and Nikon E 100 mm f/2.8 D3200 full spectrum conversionUG1 2 mm + BG40 2 mm for UVBG40 only for visiblef/8ASA 1600 UV, 100 visibleExposure 1/60 for visible1 sec for 100 mm and 1/4 sec for 50 mmOutdoors near midday, moderate cloud cover, breezeWB and processing in LightRoom Don't know what the flower is called - it was planted in our garden by previous owner - flowers every year The 100mm is the more zoomed image (I forgot to cover the optical viewfinder for the 50mm UV image) Conclusion - both are nice lenses with good sharpness that falls off at the corners (50mm a little more so)Both good for UV, but 50 mm requires shorter exposure and gives a little more colour in the UV image (I tried to keep all setting the same and WB the same). 50 mm nice and light, good feel to focus - it's the overall winner here (IMHO). nfoto
It's a Pulsatilla also called Pasqueflower. Sometimes species from this genus are recognised under Anemone instead and the distinction between the two genera is pretty blurred. Link to comment
Andrea B.
If using the BG40 as an IR blocker, you should perhaps consider using a white/grey card to obtain a proper white balance. The greens in the visible Pulsatilla photos are not correct. Now-->> please understand I am not wanting to get in the way of an artistic output here. :D Kindly disregard this observation if an artistic effect was the goal in the swirling blue-greens and purples of the visible photo. It is very pretty. The attractive composition has kept me from paying any attention at all to corner sharpness falloff. Link to comment
Jim Lloyd
Good point Andrea Not sure what happened there? Maybe I am trying to do too much in one day - It is quite a nice effect, but now you mention it, it does look a bit weird. This is what LightRoom gives with Auto White Balance - and I am too tired to look any more today Link to comment
