Australian bird feathers

The Common Bronzewing is a large, heavy terrestrial pigeon common across much of Australia. It exhibits iridescent bronze circles on the wing coverts and tertials. The male emits a series of deep, low, down-slurred ooms, repeated at intervals of about 2 seconds. The feathers photographed here were from a deceased bird found in the garden one morning, probably the result of a night-time predator attack.

Very interesting!

I'm sad for the poor pigeon, but happy that you were able to made such wonderful photos showing its iridescence, UV-signature and fluorescence. Beautiful plumage.
