Saw these trucks on Sunday and was amused by the repaint job.

Is this the result of repairs with different paints used, or do we see the repartition of plastic and metal parts? I was leaning towards the latter, but the doors show a mix of blue and grey.

Factory and aftermarket (body-shop) paints are very different. The former is applied to the parts and heat-cured in an oven or kiln prior to assembly. This is obviously impractical for repair jobs. A cold-curing paint is used in these contexts. Obviously, no effort is made to color-match the UV characteristics of the paint with the original; hence, the differences which are often seen in UV photographs of repaired vehicles.

Different paints. I think some of the parts might have been removed and spray painted individually then put back on, because there are some nice sharp lines on there. The doors may have just been touched up with a couple of squirts.

I should have thought to do this before I bought my car (used). I'll try this weekend - and see if the vehicle report I was given is legit! (I don't presume it was falsified, I just like the fun of this).
