Comment:

E. graminifolia, a native of Canada and the Northern and Northeastern US, attracts a wide variety of pollinators - bees, wasps, butterflies, flies, and beetles. The plant is usually found in moist or wet areas. This particular specimen was growing along the shoreline of Somes Sound. Leaves, flowers and oils of this plant were used in Native American medicine.

Unlike some of its Goldenrod cousins in the Solidago genus, there is no particular pattern to E. graminifolia's UV signature. The unopened buds show iridescence. The opened flowers are moderately UV-absorbing.
