Victorian holiday cards

Andy Perrin

Recommended Posts

I bought Victorian holiday cards for most of my relatives. This card is from 1879 according to the message on the rear.

Vis photo is iPhone 6S Plus, rest are NEX-7. One day I will remember to buy a UV-IR cut filter!

Filters are (in order) 1064BP25, 830DF30, (vis), and 330WB80.

Such interesting old cards!

Where did you find them?

Is there any writing on the back? Or stamps? Old ink and stamps are often interesting in UV or IR, too.

I'm thinking that a Christmas butterfly indicates a greeting card from the southern hemisphere.

All from eBay! The first one has a message on the back (which I photographed in UV, but it didn't do anything interesting).
