UV transmission test comparison.

Auto Hedomar 35mm f/3.5, M42 mount.

Kuribayashi 35mm f/3.5, M42 mount.

All camera and lens settings exactly the same for each Sparticle shot.

Sparticle back lighting the same for each shot.

If I am reading this correctly the lenses have roughly the same T spectrum but the Hedomar has a lower amplitude. How many stops of a difference would you guesstimate exists between the two lenses?

1/3 stop difference, no guessing.

Here are some comparison shots using Nikon D7000, Aperture Priority, f/8 (each lens), ISO 200, center weighted metering, Baader U filter.

I also made sample shots using f/3.5 and f/11, resulting in the same 1/3 stop difference.

 

Left: Kuri - Right: Hed

First comparison image uses the same white balance for each shot.
