Andrea B.
Blum, A.G. (2013) Crocus L. sp. (Iridaceae) Crocus. Flowers photographed in ultraviolet and visible light. http://www.ultraviol...ocus-sp-crocus/ Middletown, New Jersey, USA29 March 2013Cultivar in home garden Comment:Crocuses are notoriously difficult to capture in UV because they exhibit a very strong UV-bright, almost white iridescence from their UV-dark petals. This wide dynamic range is not always easy to photograph. Equipment [Nikon D600-broadband + Carl Zeiss 60mm f/4.5 UV-Planar] Visible Light [f/11or 1/320" @ ISO 100 in Sunlight with Baader UVIR-Block Filter] Ultraviolet Light [f/11 for 1/1.6" @ ISO 400 in Sunlight with SB-14 UV-modified Flash and Baader UV-Pass Filter] Link to comment
nfoto
This is a good demonstration of the fact that a flower colour as such need not influence the UV signature at all. Thus, albino forms of for example, Hepatica nobilis, have the identical UV appearance as their normal relatives I(Rørslett, in prep.). Link to comment
