Correa alba var. alba was first collected by Joseph Banks and Dr Daniel Solander at Botany Bay in New Holland between April 30th and May 5th 1770 during the voyage of HM Bark Endeavour under the command of Lieutenant James Cook RN. Banks recorded in his Journal for May 3rd 1770 “Our collection of plants has now grown so immensely large that it was necessary that some extraordinary care should be taken of them least they should spoil in the books”. This was the first collection of plants from New Holland, which was later renamed New South Wales by Cook.
