Andrea B.
Blum, A.G. (2015) Meconopsis cambrica (L.) Vig. (Papaveraceae) Welsh Poppy. Flowers photographed in ultraviolet and visible light. http://www.ultraviol...ca-welsh-poppy/ Stavanger, Norge11 May 2014Wildflower Synonyms:Argemone cambrica (L.) Desf.Papaver cambricum L.Engelsk Valmue = English PoppyComment:The Welsh Poppy shows one of the unusual false bi-colour signatures in Ultraviolet light. The reproductive parts are all UV-dark while the petals are UV-reflective except for the dark false blue patches on the base. This M. cambrica was a stunning, rich orange colour. You can see that the white wall reflects a bit of the warm colour. The plant was flourishing near its dandelion friend - both having no problem being near a garbage can and growing out of pavement cracks. Quite amazing! Andrea B.
It was so surprising to find it growing out of the tiny space between the pavement and the building. It must be quite tough! Link to comment
