Lens adapters that accept drop-in filter holders. This is one future product to keep an eye on.

Edit: The planned interchangeable lens feet (including Arca-compatible) are also very interesting.

Agreed. This is potentially very interesting. Even more so if the filter holder accepts ordinary filter/filter sizes. However, I fear they intend a specialised slim filter type to be used and then goodbye Baader etc.

The "universal filter holder" in the figures is said to take a 52 mm threaded filter. Unless it requires a "slim" filter, this diameter accepts a 2" Baader U remounted in an ordinary 52 mm filter ring.

Hi Enrico

I wasn't able to mount the Baader U2 in a 52mm ring, it fell through. Instead, I used two step rings, 52-49 & 49-52mm, then with a retaining ring from a 49mm filter, I was able to screw the Baader U2 into the bottom of the 52-49mm step ring. It turns out very neat & no bigger then a normal 52mm filter ring.

Yep, been watching this one too.

The early rendition looked terribly crude, but second evolution looks better and these are starting to look like a real product.

Obviously some short register depth legacy mounts will never fit, Leica for example, and I doubt we will ever see Petriflex breech lock or Exakta even though they could fit since they are doing EOS and Minolta MD.

Despite the fact that folks on 43rumors piled derision on it my credit card is starting to itch!

I suspect that some 52mm filter holders have a larger rear mount surface, while detrimental for some lenses it appears to work fine for the Baader U2.

Exactly, get a B+W filter ring and it will be fine with the Baader U. These rings have a wider shoulder than usual (but make sure you get one that can be unscrewed - some seem to have the filter blank permanently press-fit into the ring).

I had several B+W filter rings that I tried this with but none of them would hold the smaller filter. I suspect that it may require the much older B+W filters where the rear mount circumference was not a priority as it is today.

My filter is mounted in a 49mm ring from an old skylight filter and I keep it in a 55-->49 step-down ring for most use. If it is necessary to mount directly in a larger ring, there may be objects which can be pressed into service as washers, or thin rings of cardboard might suffice if the discrepancy is small enough.
